I think this book needs to come with a health warning it’s that hot!

I will admit that I did deliberately wait until Last Kiss came out before I read First Touch because I know how vicious Laurelin Paige’s cliffhangers can be.

This book is not a standalone and picks up right where we left our jaw hanging and chanting WTF at the end of First Touch.

Some of the bombs dropped at the end of First Touch are dealt with right away, others are left to simmer until we feel the need to throw our kindle at the nearest wall.

The book continues on with the fast pace from First Touch with more twists, turns and red herrings. We’re left guessing and wondering what on Earth is going on until the very end. Paige runs us through a whole gambit of emotions which leaves us feeling breathless both from the mystery and from some of the sex scenes. Reeve doesn’t lose his touch, ever.

I really enjoyed to getting to see more Reeve the man in the second half of this duet. Whilst the dark, mysterious Reeve from First Touch was enigmatic, I found myself rooting for, understanding and loving the deeper emotive Reeve in Last Kiss.

Whether you’re already a Laurelin Paige fan or this is her first work for you, you won’t be disappointed.

This was my first Lexi Blake book and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Although technically this book is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone.

What I really liked, and seems to be a thread in the series, is that the main character Mia was no wall flower. She was badass and proud of it. She knew what she needed to do and did it. So many books now have the female running away when their feelings are hurt or turning their back on their goals and beliefs that it was a refreshing change to not see that with this book.

The BDSM element wasn’t the be all and end all of this book. There was intricate storyline which sucked me in so throughly that I’d hoping for the time to go back and read the rest of the series. Any questions that may have been raised by not reading the earlier books were fully covered from the beginning.

I loved Mia and Case’s relationship because even with the less than ordinary circumstances their relationship battles and strengths were normal. I found myself relating to the intrinsic ideas behind their arguments and discussions.

The action behind the story was really engaging and I found myself engrossed in some of the scenes waiting with bated breath to see what could possibly happen next. It was thrilling and enjoyable ride.

New Release-Everett by Cee Smith

4🍀 review for Everett

I really enjoyed this book and genuinely wasn’t sure what to expect going in. I was pleasantly surprised to have a found a book that kept me guessing without it specifically being a suspense novel.

Indigo gets a new job with an award winning company, but finds herself face to face with a man she a single sexual run-in with, who is now her boss.

What I enjoyed about this book was some of role-reversal. There was the ‘normal’ BDSM play *trigger warning for those of you who aren’t in to a bit of slap and tickle* but the crux of their relationship outside of the playroom was different to the stereotypes we are usually presented with.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Indigo is your normal everyday girl, there was a lot of crap she pulled I couldn’t see myself doing, ever, and I like my brand of crazy. But Smith’s writing style leads you through Indigo’s thought processes so that at the time you can see what she’s doing and why she’s doing it.

Everett/Vett/Suit/Mr Belford was H-O-T and frankly he can flog any day he pleases, and twice on Sunday. But I found him *almost* being too much of an asshole. Smith tread that line very carefully, and thankfully didn’t completely cross it. Again through Smith’s writing we found ourselves filled with righteous indignation for Indigo at some of Everett behaviours.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed Indigo and Everett’s story, I will be going into Smith back catalogue and seeing what I’ve missed out on as this is the first book of her’s I’ve read. Enjoy.

Blurb

One girl. Five stops. A chance encounter that would change everything.

When Indigo Ericson gets her dream job at Digital Monument, she can’t believe her luck. Not only is she collaborating with an award-winning creative team, but she is also working on a top-secret project. And then she meets her boss.

Except this isn’t their first time meeting.

Everett Belford isn’t just the creative director. He’s the man from the train—Vett. The stranger Indigo has spent the last three months infatuated with. He may act like he doesn’t remember, but Indigo won’t let him forget.

Where do the lines of infatuation and reality meet? When does curiosity become obsession? In an attempt to pick up where they left off, Indigo accepts his limited offer, but the deeper she descends into his world, the more she wants to draw him into hers. Except when it comes to Indigo, things aren’t always as they seem.

Synopsis:

A GAME OF CAT AND MOUSE FILLED WITH DARK DESIRES AND DANGEROUS SECRETS…

Emily Wayborn has made a decision.

She might not fully trust handsome and deadly Reeve Sallis, but he is the one person that gives her what she needs. With Reeve she can finally be herself. Submitting to him is the only thing keeping her grounded as the rest of her life falls apart. But the hotelier is a master at keeping secrets and as she continues her quest for answers someone is making sure she doesn’t find them.

Time is running out and she is questioning everything she thought she knew about friendship and love. She must now make an impossible choice that will determine if she will survive with her heart…or at all.

 Excerpt:

What he really wanted to hear were the other words, the words I couldn’t give. He’d danced around it, too, though. He’d suggested he loved me, but he’d never told me outright. Those words stood so prominently that they’d become a barrier between us. Either they’d been a lie, a cruel response to my scheming, or they’d been truthful—a possible doorway leading to something else. Something more.

Damn, how I wanted the more. Wanted it enough to brave broaching the subject. “You said things the other night, Reeve—”

He jumped in, turning his head to meet my eyes straight on. “I meant them.”

“Oh.”

Oh.

There was so much to say in response and yet nothing at all came to mind. And as wary as I was to fully trust him, I believed him. Many men had proclaimed their love for me—usually when I had my mouth around their dick—but it had never been sincere. The plethora of false variations had been enough to teach me that this version was the real thing.

But Reeve had said he’d loved Amber that night as well. And I believed that too.

“I want you sleeping in my bed, Emily.”

Or perhaps I was wrong about everything, and his devotion was tied up in sex like all the other men I’d known.

I considered retorting back something sassy about not always being able to get what you want. But I wasn’t quite sure that was an adage that Reeve understood. Besides, I wanted to be sleeping in his bed as well, and maybe I would be eventually. If it was really where he wanted me. If I was really the one he wanted there.

I knew I should just ask—how do you feel about Amber now? What happens next between us? It was on the tip of my tongue, the questions preformed in my mouth when I decided to swallow them instead. Because I wasn’t sure I was ready to hear those answers—whatever they may be—and, in this moment, at least, I was what he desired. And maybe it was just an excuse to not have to think about her for a minute, to not worry about feeling guilty or like I’d betrayed her. As long as I didn’t know, I could blame my behavior on ignorance, and I could please him too.

The swing rocked as I shifted to my knees. Ignoring the chill of the seat against my bare shins, I leaned forward and unfastened Reeve’s jeans.

“This isn’t my bed,” he said, not moving to either help me or stop me.

“It’s the best I can do right now.”

He’d gone commando, a sign that he’d likely tried to sleep as well, then had thrown his clothing on when he found the effort futile. I rubbed my hands together, heating them with friction before I reached in for his cock.

Just as I lowered my lips to his tip, he said, “That ‘right now’ insinuates that there will be a time that you can do more.”

I didn’t want to answer, afraid of giving too much of myself away. Afraid that he wouldn’t like my reasons for not being with him fully or that he’d try to talk me out of worrying about Amber’s place in all of this.

So I occupied my mouth in other ways that prevented talking.

5 🍀 Review for Je Suis à Toi by Pepper Winters

5 🍀 Review for Je Suis à Toi by Pepper Winters

Je Suis à Toi by Pepper Winters is follow up novella to her amazing Monsters in the Dark Series (If you haven’t read the series yet rectify that here: US:http://amzn.to/1AElX6H UK: http://amzn.to/1ElHi9B B & N: http://bit.ly/1wK3MRr iTunes: http://apple.co/1MBZr4O Google: http://bit.ly/1zSget3)

“Life taught me an eternal love will demand the worst sacrifices. A transcendent love will split your soul, cleaving you into pieces. A love this strong doesn’t grant you sweetness—it grants you pain. And in that pain is the greatest pleasure of all.”

JE SUIS A TOI

I adored Q and Tess the first time round and when I heard we were getting more esclave and mâitre I was ecstatic. I wasn’t disappointed.

In some circles the name Pepper Winters in synonymous with dark, twisty and hot. She scores on all these fronts in Je Suis à Toi.

What I enjoyed most about this book was that we got to see Q and Tess deal with ‘normal’ everyday events but int heir own unique way. Reading this book was like coming home to old friends. Winters seamlessly brought us back into their world without missing a beat. The personalities and lives of all our favourite characters have evolved since the last book, as they should, so everything they encounter and their reactions are all appropriate and in keeping with the original stories.

The bedroom scenes are as hot as ever, in fact Winters has stepped it up a notch with some of them!

3qq9j6pemorzg

I read this book in one sitting because I was almost immediately submerged back in to the wonderful world of Q and Tess. While reading this story I was again struck by organic their narrative is. This isn’t BDSM for whips and chains sake, it is an intrinsic part of Q and Tess’ relationship and I love that Winters doesn’t shy away from it. In fact she celebrates it through her writing and through their relationship. Their sex life is never justified through either protagonists’ pov.

This was not an addition to the series for the sake of prolonging it. It was a beautiful, well told story that enhanced what was already there. It is an important and fundamental part of their story.
