This was my first Lexi Blake book and I have to say I wasnโ€™t disappointed. Although technically this book is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone.

What I really liked, and seems to be a thread in the series, is that the main character Mia was no wall flower. She was badass and proud of it. She knew what she needed to do and did it. So many books now have the female running away when their feelings are hurt or turning their back on their goals and beliefs that it was a refreshing change to not see that with this book.

The BDSM element wasnโ€™t the be all and end all of this book. There was intricate storyline which sucked me in so throughly that Iโ€™d hoping for the time to go back and read the rest of the series. Any questions that may have been raised by not reading the earlier books were fully covered from the beginning.

I loved Mia and Caseโ€™s relationship because even with the less than ordinary circumstances their relationship battles and strengths were normal. I found myself relating to the intrinsic ideas behind their arguments and discussions.

The action behind the story was really engaging and I found myself engrossed in some of the scenes waiting with bated breath to see what could possibly happen next. It was thrilling and enjoyable ride.

The Debt AMAZONHer life changed in an instant.

And he’s the only one who could have prevented it.

Jessica Charles shouldn’t have even been in London when the unthinkable happened.

She should have been back at home in Edinburgh, perhaps hanging with her boyfriend, preparing the baby shower for her sister, or teaching her yoga classes. She should have been going on in her normal, dependable life as always.

But on that fateful day in August, when a mentally-ill ex-soldier opened fire in public, Jessica’s world changed forever.

Now single and crippled from the gunshot wounds, Jessica finds herself scared and alone, losing faith in herself and humanity with each agonizing moment that passes.

That is until a stranger enters her life. A stranger who makes her live again.

Keir McGregor has always been the strong, silent type. Throw in tall, dark, and handsome and you’ve got pretty much the perfect Scotsman.

Except Keir is anything but perfect. He’s got a past he’s running away from and a guilty conscience he can’t seem to shed. But the more time he spends with Jessica, the more he falls in love with her.

And the more his secret threatens to tear them apart.

He may have been a stranger to her.

But sheโ€™s never been a stranger to him.

ABOUT EASY FOR KEEPS:

Adam Spencer loves women. All women. Every shape and size, regardless of hair or eye color, religion or race, he simply enjoys them all. Meeting more than his fair share as the manager and head bartender of The Odyssey, a hot spot in the heart of New Orleansโ€™ French Quarter, Adamโ€™s comfortable with his lifestyle, and sees no reason to change it. A wife and kids, plus the white picket fence are not in the cards for this confirmed bachelor. Until a beautiful woman, and her sweet princess, literally knock him on his ass.

Sarah Cox has just moved to New Orleans, having accepted a position as a social worker specializing in at-risk women and children. Itโ€™s a demanding, sometimes dangerous job, but Sarah is no shy wallflower. She can handle just about anything that comes at her, even the attentions of one sexy Adam Spencer. Just because heโ€™s charmed her daughter, making her think of magical kingdoms with happily ever after, doesnโ€™t mean that Sarah believes in fairy tales. But the more time she spends with the enchanting man, the more he begins to sway her into believing in forever.

Even so, when Sarahโ€™s job becomes more dangerous than any of them bargained for, will she be ripped from Adamโ€™s life forever?

With Kristin Proby we are always guaranteed a story that will suck us in emotionally and this short for 1001 Dark Nights is no exception.

Even if you haven’t read the Easy Boudreaux series (but seriously you’ll love the series) Adam and Sarah’s book can be read as a standalone.

I would to see this couple get a full length novel to themselves because I found myself becoming very invested in their story very quickly.

Sarah is a single mom and Proby manages to convey the stresses and trials of her situation without bogging down the mood and tone of the book. She is the type of leading woman I like with obvious gumption and strength, not a delicate little wall flower.

Adam is one hot barman. The sex was always going to be hot with Proby doing the writing; but the way she touches on so many issues makes the novella seem much longer. There is no skipping of important plot points in order to slide in under the word count.

I love the interaction between Adam, Sarah and her daughter, the dialogue as always is realistic and really adds to the chemistry between this modern day family.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and only wish there was more of them to come.
